Forsaken World
Forsaken World:ken World! Forsaken is certainly how I felt while playing this incredibly mediocre grind fest. When googling Forsaken World it promises to be the Ultimate F2P MMORPG, unless I passed out at some point and the definition of Ultimate became 'boring'. Forsaken World seems to be a mish-mash of everything from every other mediocre MMO to add up into one gelatinous shlop of 'meh'. Everything about the game is lifeless and uninspired, from the music to the animations and even the over designed armour. The quests are the exact same as any other MMO: 'Go to Person A and then go to point X and kill Y amount of monster Z' to get a good first impression on the game I first played as a human assassin and then as a (female) dwarf, why a female dwarf? I'll get into that later. As I said earlier about the animations being lifeless, I wasn't kidding. Your character just swipes at the enemy and gets swiped at back in turn. The enemies don't reel back from the damage, your character doesn't react at all and the only time something actually happens is when you kill something. When you kill something it suddenly reacts to all of your previous attacks and goes flying backwards halfway across the area at insane speeds. Dwarves all use guns in the Forsaken World, so I was curious to see how the very small child-like female dwarf would handle a musket. She fired the musket with little to no effort and almost no recoil what so ever. The Musket should have flown back and smacked her in the face! While I'm talking about the female dwarfs, let me go into more detail about why I decided to play as her. The first reason was mentioned above, to see if she would react at all to firing the musket. The second reason was to play the exact opposite of what I had played recently, from a physical fighter human to a ranged fighter dwarf. I suspected that the overly sexualized child-like female dwarves was just how female dwarves looked in the game, but when I began playing I saw a normal looking podgy female dwarf! So the players are only allowed to be the creepy overly sexualized children? I wanted to be a podgy dwarf not a beauty pageant horror show! Another thing I should mention while talking about inconsistencies in character design, the humans are all adults. The ones that you play as, anyway. At one point you receive a quest to kill bandits, blah blah; you've done it all before. The bandits are also human, yet they're double the size of your player character. Why? Are all player humans and NPCs just midgets in this game? Going back to the fact that this game is lifeless just one more time I would like to note that the game was completely empty. When I was playing as a human I saw maybe five world messages, when I was playing as my dwarf (her name was ManlyDorf, if you were curious) I saw one. You could argue that it was just the server I was playing on, but when I was selecting my server I noted that all of them had the exact same status message, meaning they were all about the same population. One more thing that disappointed me about this game, other than everything I mentioned above, is that once you reach level 10 all the differences between the quests disappear and you're just set on the same quest line as all the other races. While I suppose this isn't really a negative point if you were playing with your friends and you were different races I would have still liked for there to be more differences between the quests. I say and then realize that they all just boil down to 'Talk to Person A and kill X amount of monster Y' At the end of it all, Forsaken World is just boring and unoriginal. It brings nothing new to the table in terms of MMORPGs, is incredibly inconsistent, incredibly boring and most important of all: just not fun.
